Abstract

This paper consists of the synthesis of linear and planar ring printed antennas arrays. The structure analysis is based on the modified cavity model which allows to take into account the fringing fields effects along the ring curved edges by employing the dynamic permittivity. The array pattern synthesis is obtained by acting on the elements weights: amplitude and/or phase. Genetic algorithms are applied to reduce the side lobes peaks and to obtain a desired radiation pattern. Amplitude and/or phase coefficients of the feeding network permitting to produce an optimal radiation pattern are then given. Various synthesis results for linear and planar arrays are obtained, thanks to the exploitation of genetic algorithm potentialities and high flexibility. These results are presented and discussed in this paper.
