This paper considers the stability problem of a rotor-bearing system with interval parameters. The system comprises a rotor that is supported by two journal bearings with different characteristics. The bearings stiffness and damping parameters as well as the shaft rigidity are assumed known only within lower and upper bounds. Stability analysis of the considered system is treated in this work by applying two approaches, namely; interval analysis and Monte Carlo simulation. The results of the paper show the usefulness of the Monte Carlo simulation approach as applied to the underlying problem as compared to the interval analysis approach.
