Abstract

ICARO is an open framework for building distributed applications as organizations of agents and resources. The guiding principles of ICARO have been used to design the architecture of Talking Agents, software entities with the ability to recognize human speech and synthesizing a spoken response. We are using this kind of agents for building installation-art works, with the purpose of developing new kinds of experiences in the interaction of the spectator with the art work. The paper describes the architecture of Talking Agents using the ICARO framework, as a way to integrate, in a structured way, different types of resources, and a scenario with an art installation called ORACULOS.
