The performance of wireless mesh networks can be improved significantly by equipping each node with multiple radios and by using multiple channels. How to assign channels efficiently to radios to avoid interference is a key problem for multiradio multi-channel mesh networks. We reexamined the general requirements of this problem and proposed a novel channel assignment strategy based on PB/MC-CDMA (Partial Block MCCDMA) to solve it effectively and efficiently. Our strategy consists of two phases: original frequency allocation and dynamic channel modification. Some simulation results demonstrated that the performance of multi-radio multi-channel mesh network was improved by proposed channel assignment strategy.
