Abstract

As the number of user of group services increases, ISP, service provider, and service user need efficient delivery of service. Although multicast delivery can provide the efficient delivery of service, it is not used widely because of deployment and management problems. As an alternate solution, many overlay multicast mechanisms are proposed, especially in [1] [2] [3] overlay multicast for supporting mobility is proposed. In this paper, we introduce a real-time data delivery mechanism for overlay multicast with focus on supporting mobile node. In our proposal, the local wireless networks are partitioned into two types according to existence of mobile multicast agent (MMA); i.e., MMA region and non-MMA region. We describe two different data delivery methods for each different type of local wireless networks. In addition, since traffic should be minimized as much as possible in wireless network to increase efficiency and avoid collision, we use designated node called HMN to reduce both control and data traffic in the non-MMA region.
