Abstract

In this paper we study the impact of various parameters on the user perceived quality of video transmission over mobile ad hoc (MANET) networks. These parameters include the obstacles coverage area in the MANET deployment area, the nodes' mobility speed and the background traffic. The simulated results have shown that the performance of the perceived video is severely affected as the number of the obstacles grows and the aggregate background traffic increases. Furthermore, the higher the quality of the encoded video (small q-step size), the more sensitive and more frequent the perceived video quality deterioration.
