Abstract

Materials service safety is important for public security. Materials service cases are typical examples of materials service in reality. Case analysis is an efficient way for researchers and engineers to assess service safety. Traditional case analysis is manually executed by domain experts. It is time-consuming and the analysis results may be not consistent with other experts' conclusions of similar cases. This paper proposes an ontology aided case analysis method to improve the efficiency and precision of materials service case analysis. Ontology is adopted to represent and retrieve similar cases. The reasoning mechanism of ontology is also utilized for the reasoning during case analysis. Use cases are proposed to show the obvious benefits from this method for materials service case analysis.
