Abstract

Ranking fuzzy numbers is important for decision-making problems in a fuzzy environment, since the measurements are imprecise in nature. In this paper, the angle of triangular and trapezoidal fuzzy number, the fuzzy spread of triangular and trapezoidal fuzzy number a re defined respectively, which are important indices for ranking fuzzy numbers. Using these new ranking indices, one new method of ranking fuzzy numbers was proposed, which considered a ranking-maker's preference. The results of some preliminary numerical experiments with the proposed method show the discrimination is better; this new way is simple and efficient for the calculation and comparison.
