This paper presents a semantic based enterprise spreadsheet model to improve the spreadsheet template modifiability, data presentation ability and domain applicability, and the principle is to uncouple data and structure by means of semantic. In this model, cell structure object encapsulates structural information and semantic of a cell, and data object encapsulates value and semantic. Thus there is an indirect relationship depends on semantic matching between the cell structure object and data object. Additionally, this model can satisfy domain requirements by customizations throughout the templates design. A spreadsheet system implemented on this model has been applied in an enterprise of petroleum domain and the results have proved the effectiveness.
