A session transfer method, referred to as a Modified Assured (MA) session transfer, is proposed in order to support both session mobility and consistency for IP multimedia subsystem (IMS). The MA session transfer is based on the Assured session transfer specified in [1] but it simplifies a session dialogue by using user agent (UA) like characteristics of a serving-call session control function (S-CSCF). The session transfer delay of the MA session transfer is analyzed and compared with that of the Assured session transfer. As a result, the MA session transfer can maximally reduce session transfer delay as much as 18% of session transfer delay of the Assured session transfer.
