Abstract

The eGovRTD2020 project developed a policy-oriented science and technology roadmapping method for strategic planning of eGovernment research. This method consists of for steps of investigations combining various research techniques. In these steps, a vast amount of data is collected and analyzed through qualitative and quantitative methods. To better cope with the challenges of qualitatively analyzing big data amounts, the eGovRTD2020 method needs appropriate support through advanced Information and Communication Technology (ICT). This paper first documents the findings from investigating related work in the different research domains. It also unveils whether appropriate tool support exists for the eGovRTD2020 method. Several tools have been identified that can support parts of the method. However, no tool supports the whole roadmapping method of eGovRTD2020. The literature study and tool examination also lay the foundation for the requirements and conceptualization of a support tool for Computer-Assisted Qualitative Data Analysis (CAQDAS).
