Rapid advances in mobile communication technology have spawned many new mobile applications. This paper discusses several channel allocation methods for multiversion data dissemination in mobile computing systems. Effective utilisation of low bandwidth of wireless channels and reducing mean access delay are of equal importance as providing consistent data items to mobile transactions. Two basic multiversion data organisations applied with simple compression technique are proposed to efficiently utilise the low bandwidth wireless channels. Simulations on obtaining the optimal channel allocation, with two different multiversion data organisations were conducted and the result shows that an optimal channel allocation combined with multiversion data organisation and compression technique significantly improves the system performance.
