This paper portrays recent trends in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems and its commercial relevance. RFID is one of the most researched and rapidly emerging technologies. With the recent technological advancements at International level, it is finding its application in various areas and has a bright future scope. We have proposed a software framework for RFID integrated mobile phones. We have proposed some of the software changes required in the system. We have shown how the OS of mobile phone can be installed with a driver to run RFID reader. We propose that a Java Platform ME package should be added to support programming for RFID reader. A system service will continuously watch over the RFID hardware for events. Standalone application made in Java can use and control the reader. Exemplary future applications and systems based on RFID and other technologies integrated with RFID mobile phones are proposed in this paper. We have discussed about applications, problems being faced by such RFID systems & their limitations in other fields in the current era. The commercial scope in the field of RFID manufacturing and research has been discussed with its integration with current technologies. We have discussed about the hardware and software limitations that may be restricting or preventing its usage or feasibility in some fields like Mobile Phones based RFID technologies. We tried to depict some of the future enhancements that may be possible in this area.
