Abstract

Based on the Ethernet and Bluetooth wireless technology, an improved Bluetooth Ad Hoc network structure, WBPAN(Wireless Bluetooth Personal Area Network) is proposed for the streaming media distribution. In WBP AN, each Bluetooth AP acts as the root of the Bluetree and connects with the nearby Bluetooth devices by the modified BlueTree formation algorithm. In WBP AN, we propose the layered and scalable streaming media distribution architecture and construct an AP Overlay network where the route addressing, the joining in and the exiting are implemented dynamically, basing on the Distributed Hash Table (DHT) and P2P technology. The simulation shows that the Bluetooth terminal can access the media stream data from the proper AP more smoothly, the quality of service of the stream media is improved markedly and the payload of the source server is reduced significantly under the WBPAN architecture.
