Abstract

This paper focuses on three vital aspects in propagation characteristics inside tunnels: break point; near zone and far zone in a practical environment. Firstly, all the distinguishing features of radio channel in the areas before and after break point at different angles such as modal theory, ray-tracing theory, statistics and propagation model have been summarized. By collectively analyzing the research perspectives above, a panoramic view on the propagation characteristics of break point; far zone and near zone has been proposed. Based on a measurement carried out in Madrid operational subway environment at 2.4 GHz, some new radio channel characters of the break point; the regions before and after break point at higher frequency have been discussed and analyzed.
