Abstract

The split-band digital audio expander and noise-gate plays a key role in the audio system. In this paper, we propose a new method based on crossover and two-dimensional window to realize the device. Traditional methods are implemented by LPF (low-pass filter) and feed-forward detection to control signal. In the proposed method, the gain curve is further controlled and smoothed by windows in two dimensions: time and amplitude, which diminishes the distortion. The method boasts better performance in real environment. Results of MATLAB simulation and measurement of THD+N (Total Harmonic Distortion and Noise) on ADSP21364 are presented finally, verifying the advantage of the two-dimensional window.
