Abstract

In this paper, we aim to provide the further evaluation on the recently proposed visualization technique known as Virtual Fly-Over for virtual colonoscopy by using clinical CT colonography datasets. The proposed method mainly consists of two steps: splitting the entire colon anatomy into exactly two halves, and assigning a virtual camera to each half to perform fly-over navigation. We have quantitatively validated the effectiveness of the proposed technique by using 22 real CT colonography datasets. Experimental results have shown that the average surface visibility coverage is 97.49±1.02%.
