Abstract

IEEE802.16e WirelessMAN-OFDMA is expected to be a significant step in the evolution of communication technologies for the provision of broadband services to mobile users. Due to the large amount of parameters to be taken into account, from physical to upper layers, and the degrees of freedom left to manufacturers and operators, a simulation tool is almost mandatory along the path toward implementation and deployment. However, the level of accuracy of a simulator is a trade-off between the needs of precision in the real behavior modelling and the complexity of the software. In this paper, an IEEE802.16e WirelessMAN-OFDMA simulator that carefully reproduces all aspects is described and its numerical results are compared to those obtained adopting some, apparently straightforward, approximations.
