Information sharing among vehicles is an emergent issue in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs). Considering the mobility and limited connectivity of the nodes in a typical VANET, designing scalable schemes for information sharing is challenging. In this paper, we propose a distributed peer-to-peer (P2P) based architecture for information sharing in VANETs. We split the entire vehicular network into geographically unique zones and use consistent hashing techniques to map the nodes and the information to unique identifiers in Distributed Hash Table (DHT), hence providing scalable look-up services. Ongoing work aims to develop scalable routing schemes, replication and handover management under node mobility.
