Abstract

Based on a decentralized algorithm that determines dedicated observers for each sensor node we propose a new monitoring approach for highly reliable wireless sensor networks. By disseminating, collecting and evaluating health status information, each node is always well-informed about the health state of its neighbors and can thereby determine its best suited observer by itself. Our monitoring approach offers quick node failure detection and provides tools to arrange counter measures in critical situations for any sensor system.
