Abstract

A network layer perspective of quantifying the achievable throughput in communication networks is presented; the goal of which is to provide an upper bound on end-to-end throughput by taking into account the bursty nature and delay requirements of real sources. This study finds its application in estimating the amount of traffic that can be accommodated within a network ensuring that QoS criteria is met along the path traversed by the input flow.
