Image encryption is an effective method to protect multimedia information for different security purposes. In this paper, we introduce a new image bit-plane decomposition method based on the Generalized P-Gray Code (GPGC) which is a parametric sequence suitable for any base, n. Based on this decomposition, we introduce two image encryption algorithms using GPGC. The two algorithms allow for either full or partial encryption of images based on the choice of security keys: base n and distance parameter p. Experimental results show that the presented algorithms are lossless encryption methods, and that the original images can be completely reconstructed when the correct security keys are used. It is also shown that the presented algorithms can withstand the plaintext attacks.
