In breast cancer diagnosis, the radiologists mainly use their eyes to observe abnormalities occur on the mammograms. However, in many cases, cancer is not easily detected by the eyes because of bad imaging conditions. In order to improve the correct diagnosis rate of cancer, image enhancement technology is often used to enhance the image quality and assist the radiologists. In this paper, we build a new image enhancement system in mammograms for radiologists to screen mammogram easily and correctly. First, the proposed system modifies the brightness and contrast to enhance images for better visual quality. Second, the image enhancement is convoluted with mask of edge detectors and thus it can increase value of edge pixel in image building edge image for continued process. Third, the best edge image among several edge images produced by the used edge detectors in this system is automatically visualized based on single parameter.
