Study on the intermediary effect of core competence: relationship between knowledge worker management strategy and job performance

Abstract

The most valuable assets of an organization of the twenty-first century are knowledge workers and the productivity of knowledge workers. The telecom industry plays a vital role in the development of Taiwan's economy. The subject of this study is the role of knowledge workers in the customer service department of Company T. With knowledge worker management strategy as the independent variable and core competence as the intermediary variable, the study explores the effects of personal attributes, knowledge worker management strategies, and the relationship between core competence and job performance. The study uses factor analysis, reliability analysis, variance analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis through a total of 595 surveys sent and 420 received. The total usable survey is 406 representing 68.2% of total survey output. The result of the collection data is as follows: 1. Management strategy and core competence of knowledge workers exhibit correlation. 2. Knowledge worker management strategy has a positive effect on core competence. 3. Core competence has a positive effect on job performance. 4. Knowledge worker has a positive effect on job performance. 5. Through intermediary effect of core competence, knowledge worker management strategy will affect their job performance. Through the results of this study, provide appropriate recommendations as a strategic reference for service personnel in related organizations.
