Abstract

This paper presents a Position Based MAC Protocol (PB-MAC) for large scale ad hoc networks. PB-MAC adopts CSMA/CA to manage the exchange of control information and uses TDMA for the data traffic transmission. It performs slot adjustment with the help of node position. Such approaches greatly reduce the probability of data conflicting and improve the channel utility rate. Simulation results show PB-MAC can effectively increase the network throughput and provide deterministic delay bounds, while maintains good scalability.
