Most present authentication schemes need to maintain a password table and suffer from insider attack. This paper presents a novel remote user authentication scheme based on RSA scheme. The proposed scheme does not need for the remote system to maintain a password table for verifying the validation of the login and can avoid the insider attack. In addition, the proposed scheme is secure against replay attack and masquerade attack.
