Abstract

Today’s Web has provided an infrastructure to build applications that can utilize the Web services standards for developing and deploying services in heterogeneous environments. However the current Web at its current stage lacks the capability of understanding the context in which a particular service has been requested. Therefore we assume that providing semantic annotations through the use of ontologies can facilitate the utilization of services more accurately. However the aim of our research is to use these semantics description intelligently and for that we utilize the software agents that have the capabilities like intelligence and the autonomy to process the data intelligently. The paper highlights the negotiation process between agents and Web services by introducing a middleware based approach along with the ontologies to describe the semantic annotations thus resulting in the automation of service discovery to service invocation. We have stated the basic steps involved in this interoperability, where the agents can efficiently negotiate with the Web services in the heterogeneous environments.
