Abstract

This paper describes the computational environment named FamilySense, that aims at helping therapist to create a game to be applied in therapy in order to promote the family relationships. This game can also be contextualized by the therapist for each family's cultural value using common sense knowledge from the OMCS-Br Project. The game takes into consideration the socio, economic and cultural aspects of the family. It is also intended to make therapist co-authors of the game instance, setting up the game according to his/her therapeutic goals for each family context. FamilySense is inspired on a therapeutic card game that promote such relationship through physical contact. Differently from that game, FamilySense explores multimedia resources to promote a virtual contact, preparing the family for a live meeting or even in case of not being possible for one of the parents going to the therapist's.
