In this article, we present fast local mobility management with bi-casting tunnels for mobile devices with multiple interfaces. The IETF standard HMIPv6 has been extended where bi-casting tunnels between an access router and the mobile node are dynamically constructed using multiple interfaces. The detailed signaling procedure for the extension of HMIPv6 has been designed and NS2 simulation has been done for performance evaluation. The simulation results show that, comparing with other standard IP mobility management protocols such as MIPv6 and HMIPv6, the proposed mechanism demonstrates better performance in terms of handover latency, packet loss the peak signal noise ratio and jitter delay.
