Abstract

Although some remarkable advancements have been achieved in the field of Wireless Sensors Networks concerning hardware configurations and networking, a shadow cone still overstays the research for general and effective software-design approaches, the main reason being the tight requirements and constraints peculiar of this class of distributed embedded systems. This paper presents a technique to optimize a sensor network under memory and energy constraints by dynamically allocating and managing cooperating functions. The proposed approach combines a genetic optimization of the functional allocation policy with a dynamic linking mechanism supporting it.
