Abstract

In this paper, an efficient multimedia non-linear editing technique is designed for mobile multimedia devices. In our nonlinear editing system, duplication caused by non-linear editing is predicted and eliminated by considering the causality between non-linear editing I/O operations, and the duplicate data can be shared by several files. It is based on the efficient management for non-volatile memory based mobile storage. In the storage management, the data indexing and metadata management scheme is introduced in that it releases page-alignment constraint and allows data page sharing. We can reduce redundant data write with the proposed scheme, and thus use Non-volatile memory space efficiently. As a result, non-volatile memory management overhead can be reduced greatly. Moreover, our deduplication scheme can be widely deployed to existing NLE applications, since it is compatible with existing POSIX system calls.
