Abstract

Traditionally, modeling and simulation is studied and seen as a disconnected service from systems engineering field. For a full integration of modeling and simulation into systems engineering practice, they should be "within the circle", i.e., within the system engineering life cycle, and applied in each phase of systems engineering (analysis, design, development, implementation, and training). In this paper, we discuss modeling and simulation as an integral to the systems engineering life cycle and in a close relation with the team of analysts, modelers, and developers on one hand and the end users of the system on the other. Thus, the approach we propose is of Collaborative, Participative, and Interactive Modeling and Simulation in Systems Engineering.
