Abstract

Two-equation models for traffic flow are framed within the bond graph theory. Vehicle density and velocity are used as independent variables. Time-dependent nodal values and interpolation functions are introduced to represent the flow field. Nodal vectors of mass and velocity are defined as Bond Graph state variables. It can be shown that the system kinetic energy can be represented as a IC-field. Some numerical experiments are presented for the model of Jiang et al. [9], showing good results.
