Two existing approaches to wireless mesh networking (WMN), namely IEEE 802.11s and FLAME, are compared from the point of view of their ability to support VoIP service. Simulation results on WMN voice capacity in different scenarios using different mesh protocols are presented. This data allows as to compare alternative meshing approaches and can serve as a baseline for future improvements. Mesh protocols behavior is analysed and their features limiting VoIP performance are identified.
