Abstract

We propose an flexible extension of SPARQL by introducing fuzzy set theory and the α-cut operation of fuzzy numbers into SPARQL. We show how to efficiently compute the top-k answers of flexible SPARQL queries with regard to membership degrees and user-defined weights. Based on our method, a flexible query service is implemented and evaluated on the LUBM platform. Results of a preliminary user study demonstrate that the method for construction and translation of flexible queries and results ranking can capture the users's intension effectively.
