The difficulty in finding knowledge related to individual's roles as well as a appropriate mechanism for representing organisational knowledge are seen as a crucial process nowadays. Knowledge profiling is therefore designed to overcome these issues by providing a systematic set of phases or steps that carry a collection and documentation of individual and organisational knowledge. This paper shows the use of two methods of semiotics approach towards information systems (i.e. organisational morphology and norms analysis) to identify and analyse knowledge based on semiotics point of view whereby knowledge is often referred as norms. This means, knowledge and hence norms have ability in directing, coordinating and controlling actions in acceptable manners by members within a community or society. The outcome of a successful knowledge profiling is a profile that consists of an inventory of existing and needed knowledge requirements as well. In order to illustrate the execution of knowledge profiling, this study has used the roles of academic members at higher education institutions as a case study.
