Abstract

Ultra-Wideband (UWB) transmission has recently been proposed for short-range wireless communications systems. This is due to characteristics such as high data rates, immunity to multipath fading and coexistence with narrowband wireless systems. To improve system performance, error control coding is widely used. In this paper, we employ Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem (BCH) codes in a direct sequence spread spectrum pulse position modulation (DS-SS PPM) UWB system. A realistic UWB fading channel with multiple access interference is used to show the effectiveness of these codes.
