Abstract

In this paper, a robust transmission scheme based on unequal error protection (UEP) with network coding for scalable video bit stream is studied. A dynamic random network model with Poisson distribution for single-source multicast network is set up. At the sender, the SVC bit stream is re-arranged according to its rate-distortion tradeoff within a GOP. Then rate allocation based on network coding is carried out according to the characteristics of network coding (NC) on top of the random network model. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can offer better performance than existing methods in combating packet loss for different kinds of sequences under various channel conditions.
