Abstract

As a reliance on the Internet and network services grows in every corner of the world, more and more vulnerability of networks are exploited for illegitimate purposes. The steady rise in cyber crimes, has required the law enforcement agencies to keep up with the latest technologies available to Internet-based criminals and to obtain tools that would allow them not only to prevent network-based criminal activities, but also to track the criminals and collect legally-acceptable evidence for presentation in courts. The science of network forensics has provided researchers and law enforcement officials with such tools.
