Abstract

To ensure Mobile VoIP based on IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) is one of the most prominent issues in terms of introducing UTRAN long term evolution (LTE) networks. There are many hot spots such as WLAN which are a part of the free worldwide directory. Most of us regard the session controller (CSCF) as the centre point of IMS. It receives session requests and pumps out control commands to all other IMS network elements. The memory, where knowledge is stored to guide its activities and where accumulated experience can alter decisions – is the IMS HSS. This paper gives a brief overview of the LTE-WLAN-IMS converged architecture and describes the functionality of the HSS in detail. This paper considers all the aspects together to get optimised network architecture with multimedia session availability and high throughput on RF end.
