Abstract

The demand for integrated and efficient public services has increased in recent years, mainly due to the proliferation of information and communication technologies. In order to develop these new applications, some challenges must be faced, including greater interoperability, scalability and security issues. Grid computing can be considered an interesting solution for middleware applications of e-Government, thanks to its high storage and processing capacity, in addition to its recent service orientation. This paper presents MidGov, a middleware for e-Government applications in the Grid with support provided by services of the Globus Toolkit 4 and features of the Semantic Web.
