Abstract

In this paper the author will try to give a general analysis (from the synergetics perspective) of the problem of modelling the creative part of the engineering design process. This analysis will be rather philosophical than technical. The specific technical and implementational questions are not considered in this paper (intentionally). The presented discussion forms the theoretical foundations and philosophical motivation for an ongoing research in this field. Synergetics (H. Haken's interpretation) can be considered as one of the modern, most promising research programs. It is oriented towards the search for common patterns of evolution and self-organization of complex systems of any kind, regardless of the concrete nature of their elements or subsystems.
