Abstract

Conventionally, equalization and decoding are performed independently in cascade. In this paper a multilayer neural net is proposed to perform these two tasks simultaneously. The proposed method is compared with the conventional ones in the case of severe inter-symbol-interference (ISI). It is shown that a remarkable improvement is achieved with the neural-net equalizer/decoder.
