Abstract

In a recent paper [1], it was shown that in the case of orthonormal and biorthonormal filter bank we can convolve two signals x(n) and g(n) by directly convolving the subband signals and combining the results. In this paper, we further generalize the result. We also derive the coding gain for biorthonormal convolver. As an application, we derive a novel lowsensitivity FIR filter struture from the convolution theorem. For a fixed word length implementation, the deterministic coding gain over direct convolution for both the cases of quantizing the input signal and filter coefficients will be considered.
