Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) is an emergent technology, in which the nodes depend on their peers for carrying out their network operations. This collaborative action of nodes can severely degrade the networking performance, if a peer node gets compromised. Cryptographic algorithms are not sufficient to protect against the internal attacks. Unfortunately, only a few works have done in preventing the internal malicious nodes although, most of the attacks in a network arise from the internal nodes. In this paper, we propose a trust based security enhancement to HWMP (THWMP) to successfully identify malicious nodes, and exclude them from network operations. The effectiveness of THWMP is analyzed through simulation.
