Abstract

Latest statistics indicate that the amount of cruise ships corresponds to less than 1% of the total merchant fleet while at the same time they generate about 25% of the waste coming from merchant vessels. These figures imply that ship-generated waste disposal at ports have to be seriously considered. Classification of services related to on board treatment of hazardous waste are the focus of this paper.
