Abstract

This paper presents a case study that highlights the influences which the connection of distributed generation sources may have over the solutions of reactive power compensation and voltage control already existing in a given network. The problem of voltage-reactive power control to minimize energy losses was solved by changing the number of capacitor banks located in buses and changing the tap position of the HV/MV transformer from the system, via a genetic algorithm based method.
