Abstract

Nowadays, provisioning of advanced multimedia services represents one of the most important research fields in Telecommunications world. The 3GPP Ip Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) infrastructure is the best choice to implement new multimedia services based on the SIP protocol and addressed to converged environment of fixed and mobile devices. IMS allows a rich multimedia experience based on a technology able to support a wide variety of wireless and wireline accesses, geographical users locations, and a high levels of customization. For this reason a virtualized testbed implementation is proposed in this paper and a related performances analysis is carried out. Such virtualized IMS testbed will be useful to test and validate in a simple and cheap way all kinds of IMS-related services and technologies.
