Abstract

In this paper, an efficient contention resolution scheme based on FDL buffering and TWC conversion is proposed. The scheme effectively utilizes the simplicity of forward FDL buffer, the flexibility of feedback FDL buffer, the capacity of wavelength conversion and signal regeneration of TWCs, and the reconfiguration of broadcast-and-select space switch. An analytical model characterizing the behavior of the scheme is proposed. And on the basis of the model, the paper has analyzed the scheme performance in terms of packet loss probability and mean packet delay. The simulation results show that the scheme substantially outperforms other schemes.
