Abstract

In this papec we describe a Kalman filter based technique for multiuser detection of asynchronous CDMA sysrems. Similar to previously proposed rechniques, we use a decoupled form of the Kalmun filter which processes each user independently. We then make the further simplifying assumption thar the channel statistics are constant over a single symbol allowing us ta reduce rhe kalman gain to a consrant dependent on rhe current signal to inreference plus noise ratio. We srudy the performance ofrhe constant gainfilrer and show that by appropriate choice of rhe gain you can optimize for either minimum bir error rare or maximum interference reduction.
